Pawsitively Doodles
Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a few of the questions we get asked, but please feel free to reach out if you do not see your question. We would love to hear from you!
What food do you feed your dog?
Finley started out on Diamond Puppy food and has moved up to Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice formula. She does very well on this and we have had no stomach issues.
What food do you start the puppies on?
Finley was started on this as a puppy and we have had no issues with her or any other puppies on this food. We consulted our Vet and they gave us the "thumbs up" to feed this to our puppies. It is more expensive than some foods but is affordable compared to others. It provides good nutrition for your new pet at a mid range price.
Will my puppy be registered?
Doodle puppies can not be registered with the AKC because they are a "designer" breed and not a purebred. While they will not come with papers, this does not mean that the parents pedigree does not come from AKC registered Dame and Sire. With this being said, your aussiedoodle can be registered with the CKC and there will be an application in your puppy packet.
Why should I choose the Aussiedoodle?
Aussiedoodles are known to be very intelligent, loyal, affectionate, and friendly members of the family. They are active dogs, but also no when it is time to relax and rest. They have been called "velcro dogs", because they will be by you doing whatever you are doing. They come in a variety of colors and coats from lightly wavy to curly. The F1b generation will be very low to no shedding. They are great additions to families with children and other pets.
How often will my pet need groomed?
Gooming visits will depend on the type of coat your puppy has and your preference on the length. Typically grooming visits are needed every 6-8 weeks, however if you like the shorter less maintenance version, you could get your dog shaved down a couple times per year. I recommend that you brush your dogs coat at least once a week, especially if you are going to keep it longer. This will prevent matting and keep the longer coat in shape between groomings.
Is my puppy hypoallergenic?
Aussiedoodles are a hypoallergenic breed, however, no breeder could ever guarantee that your puppy will be 100% non-shedding or allergen free. Hypoallergenic means unlikely to trigger allergic responses, however if you have moderate to severe allergies it is always best to check with your physician or allergist before purchasing a puppy. This will help for your future with your puppy and not needing to rehome due to allergies.
What essential supplies do I need when I bring my puppy home?
Your needs will be different dependent on your lifestyle but there are essentials that you will need. Crate w/ divider 40" or larger, pad or blanket for crate, puppy shampoo, brush/comb, food & water bowls, puppy food, puppy training treats, and toys/chew toys. Rawhides are not recommended for safety reasons. Additional items may be play pen area for exercise, potty bells for training, dog waste bags, and a harness to help prevent pull when leash training.
What is your health guarantee?
We have a healthy breeding program and choose our studs carefully. The health of our animals is important to us. Our puppies will come with a one year health guarantee. This includes anything that is deemed to be a genetic defect or disease that has not been caused by neglect of the owner. We stand behind our puppies and their health. If a genetic defect is found and the owner chooses to return their puppy, a replacement puppy will be provided as soon as available. If there is an extreme case with a puppy death, a necropsy report will need to be provided from a reputable veterinarian.
We do not foresee any of our puppies to have any issues however nature can play its part in any breeding and we will stand behind our puppies and customers.
Do I need pet Insurance?
Your puppy will come with one month of pet insurance through Trupanion. Pet Insurance is an up and coming trend and is completely up to your families wants and needs.
